What Educators are saying about the PCI Reading Program
|
"I have used the PCI Level One Reading Program for one year. It will be my curriculum for the next year. I love it.
My students made more progress with the PCI Reading Program than with any other approach I have tried. Most of my students, who had been with me for more than one year, went from a sight word vocabulary of less than 10 words to over 50 words. They were able to read 4-5 word sentences.
The emphasis on real-world concepts and words that meant something to the students was very much appreciated. I loved having worksheets that required the students to think about what makes a thought into a complete sentence, and made them demonstrate the comprehension of each word. Having worksheets that the students could feel immediately successful with was a big plus.
The students and I enjoyed the stories and the quality of the illustrations. The books were a hit with the class. They loved being able to read a real book with characters and settings that they cared about. It's a great program!"

"The PCI Reading program has, in only 5 short weeks, turned several of my non reading students into readers! I look forward to the remainder of the year and seeing my student's confidence and reading abilities soar."

"I love the repetition that the program offers, along with the supplemental activities – it is a great way for students with autism to learn to read."

Margie G. Reading Specialist
"I was so excited to find a program like the PCI Reading Program to bring to our school. The program components are very thorough and I love the fact that after learning only 5 essential words that the student's are actually reading mini books!"

For Nonreaders of All Ages
The PCI Reading Program is a new, research-based curriculum designed to help nonreaders become successful readers. Created specifically for students with developmental disabilities, autism, and significant learning disabilities, the three-level program ensures success through a series of highly controlled mastery-based activities. Students become independent readers step by step, book by book.

Three Levels
The foundation of the PCI Reading Program is its bridging approach to learning how to read. Nonreaders begin with Level One, which uses visual discrimination to teach automatic recognition of 140 sight words and common nouns and verbs. In Level Two, students learn 140 additional words while also learning to apply a few commonly used inflectional endings such as -s and -ing. Finally, in Level Three, the 280 words students have learned are linked together by phonetic patterns to develop students' basic decoding strategies and word-attack skills. The Level Three skills are the final links in the bridge toward reading independence beyond the program.

Age-Appropriate Illustrations and Story Lines
Throughout all three levels, real-world, age-appropriate illustrations and contemporary adolescent characters appeal to learners of all ages. The program materials use repetition and review along with frequent praise to guarantee successful learning and to increase students' self-confidence.
This is the program you've been waiting for!
