Let’s Play Learn consists of eight levels of structured, systematic instruction designed to match development levels of preschool and kindergarten children.
Strands running through each level include a variety of intentional strategies, activities and materials designed to teach:
-
phonological awareness (rhyme, onset sounds, closure)
-
rapid naming (shapes, colors, numbers and letters)
-
alphabet, shapes, colors, patterns, numbers and counting
-
vocabulary (location and descriptive words)
-
pre-writing and printing, picture and listening comprehension, letter names and sounds
Each level begins with a list of goals and ends with a list of benchmarks that should be met before moving to the next level. This design builds a logical and natural progression for delivering appropriate instruction at the appropriate level.
Children who complete this program are ready for success in reading, mathematics, and all academic tasks. It is a core program for preschool through kindergarten, and an intervention program for struggling students who need additional pre-reading skills.
